Isaac "Ike" HOSEY was born 25 DEC 1846 in Jasper County, Mississippi, to Hezekiah "Kye" HOSEY Sr. & Martha "Patsy" TERRAL HOSEY. Ike married Harriet DePRIEST, daughter of Alexander D. DePRIEST and Patience Jane STRICKLAND DePRIEST. Ike and Harriet had six children, M. Roxan HOSEY (VANDERSLICE), H. HOSEY (Infant Death), John B. "JB" HOSEY, Patience C. HOSEY (VANDERSLICE), Jane P. HOSEY (WRIGHT), William T. "Billy" HOSEY.
Isaac & Harriett HOSEY left Jasper County, Mississippi, to the Creek Indian Nation (Oklahoma) on December 2, 1888. A four span of oxen pulled the wagon with the younger children (teenagers) walking most of the distance beside the wagon. They arrived in what is now McIntosh County, Oklahoma Territory (Creek Indian Nation) on February 10, 1889. They then moved slightly west between Paden and Stroud were Harriett DePRIEST HOSEY took her Indian Allotment Land awarded to her due to her Creek Indian blood and as provided by the Dawes Commission.
"Ike Hosey, widely known early day character around Stroud, was a tall angular six-footer. His loud and cheerful laugh was heard many a time from one end of Stroud's Main street to the other. Always in the crook of his arm, even as he strode up and down our rough board sidewalks, rested either a .44 Winchester or a double barrel .10 gauge shotgun. The very rough and hard appearance of Ike Hosey greatly belied his real nature for his heart was as tender and as easily touched as a women's.
