Frontier peace officer. Houston was a Cherokee lawman who, as a posse member, was killed by Crawford "Cherokee Bill" Goldsby, an infamous renegade and murderer in the Indian Nations before statehood for Oklahoma.

Tyner has the younger Houston and several others actually buried in the "Old" Blue Springs Cemetery, with possibly twenty-five others there. See V. 4, p. 18, OPAWTR. His was one of two stones still remaining at the time of their survey.
