Husband of June Cawthra Gerle
John Michael Gerle, age 83 of Clearwater, Fa. and previously of Shelton, Connecticut, entered into his eternal rest Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at the Hospice House of Woodside.
Mr. Gerle was born in South Heights, Pa., son of the late Peter and Mary Skiva Gerle and was a resident of Florida since 1998, living most of his life in Shelton.
He was a retired carpenter and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Gerle leaves his loving companion of 19 years, Beverly Douglas.
He was the father of John M. Gerle Jr.; stepfather, of Donald, George, and Richard Shorrock; and also leaves six cherished grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 25 Church Street, Shelton.
Burial will take place in the spring in Lawn Cemetery.
The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton has been entrusted with his arrangements.
