"Dr. Homer M. Hamilton, whose sad death we briefly mentioned last week, was laid to rest last Sunday in the beautiful McGhee cemetery on the hill overlooking the scenes of his boyhood days.

"Funeral director H.K. Butler went up Thursday and on Saturday accompanied by the grief-stricken wife, parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Hamilton, where it lay in state until Sunday afternoon and was viewed by a large number of friends who had known him from boyhood.

"The funeral was held at 2 pm Sunday in the F.B. church, conducted by Rev. Dunlap of Columbus, who paid a beautiful tribute to the memory of the deceased and spoke words of comfort to the grief-stricken friends. The casket was covered with the most beautiful floral designs loving fingers ever wrought, and surpassed in profusion and beauty anything ever seen here before.

"At the close of the solumn service, all were permitted to look for the last time upon the face of the departed; then the sad cortege moved on to the silent city, and as the clay of earth weighted above his silent resting place, we said with the poet: ‘Cold is dust the perished heart...'

"He was the son of A.B. and Emily KENT Hamilton and was born at Vinton July 27, 1868. He attended the public schools, the Ewington Academy and the University at Ada, OH, after entering the Medical College of Ohio at Cincinnati, from whbich institution he graduated among the leaders of a large class before he had reached the age of 21. He began the practice of his profession in his native village and continued there for more than ten years. In 1900 he moved to Columbus, and on April 23rd of that year was united in marriage to Miss Elta Riddle, of Mt. Sterling, OH. Easter Sunday 1903 he was baptized and received into the Congregational church.

"His professional work has been marked with great success everywhere he has practiced and he inspired in his patients unusual love and confidence. He never turned his face away from himan suffering, many times forgetting his own frail constitution in his effort to bring relief to others. True in every respect to the ??? of his profession and to his Christian faith he emulated the example of the Divine Healer.

"His widow, father, mother, two sisters and one brother survive him, and a host of grateful patients blend tears of affection with the stricken family.

"In death he looked like a youth of scarcely one score of years, a prophecy we believe of the eternal youth which is now his."
