"He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live"

William was the son of James and Ellen Baskerville. He married Laura Smith on 6 Sep 1860 in Joliet, Will, Illinois. They were the parents of George, Hannah, Edith, Grace, Effie, William, Carrie, Edna, and Oscar.

July 1909 - Carroll Times - The funeral of Wm. Baskerville, whose death July 7, 1909, took place Friday afternoon from the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. J.W. Taylor and attended by a large following of friends.

Departed was born in Ireland July 20, 1832. His parents died when he was still a small boy and he, with his brothers and sisters came to America, where he made his home with relatives in Illinois. He was married Sept. 6, 1860 to Miss Laura Smith, at Joliet, Illinois. In 1902 he removed to Fonda, Iowa, where he lived until coming to Carroll in 1905, living here ever since. He was the father of nine children, six daughters and three sons, all of whom were present at the time of his death, he being the first one to break the family circle.

There are 17 grand children, Bessie and Laura Baskerville, sweet Christian girls; being the only ones to break this group. The children are located as follows: George, Will and Oscar Baskerville, Fonda, Iowa; Mrs. Chas. Relf, Joliet, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. L.S. Tregloan, Enderlin, N.D., and Mesdames Effee Handly, Anna Martin, Edna Tregloan, and Grace Tregloan, of Carroll, Ia.

Wm. Baskerville became a Christian thirty-two years ago, uniting with the Baptist church. Later, when located where there was no church of his denomination, he joined the Evangelical, and since residing at Carroll, was connected with the M.E. church, seeking to live a God fearing life and fervently joining in divine worship. His declining days were spent in the peaceful anticipation of the call to a happier life with Him, he sought to serve faithfully during a long life well spent.
