Maude was the older daughter of Jacob Lee and Myra Rush Oland. She married Austin LeRoy Frank Butler Fenters on October 9, 1909 in Fountain County, IN. Maude had a quick wit and a sharp tongue. Although she was 90 pounds soaking wet, she was a hard worker. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking. She enjoyed watching TV at night. She enjoyed family gatherings and always had plenty of stories to tell. When speaking of someone's wrong-doing, she would say, "They'll get their come-uppence". If the kids were misbehaving, she would say. "You're gonna get yer what-fers." She had a kitchen door that was hard to open. She called that her "tricky Dick" door named after President Nixon. She was full of old-wive's tales. She used to belong to several women's clubs in her younger days and loved to socialize. She and her husband, Austin, ran the restaurant in the Harrison Hills Country Club for a number of years. She was quite a character, almost to the end, and we all have many fond memories. She is sorely missed and remembered often.
