A. J. EYCHANER, CHURCH FOUNDER, DIES IN FLORIDA

Home in Cedar Heights; Was Organizer Iowa Conference of Church of God

Elder A. J. Eychaner, 93, founder of the Iowa conference of the Church of God more than 50 years ago, and its president for many years, died Tuesday at the home of a son, Dr. B. Karl Eychaner, at Tampa, Fla. He built one of the first residences in Cedar Heights.The body will arrive here on the Illinois Central at 6 p.m. Friday and services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kistner Chapel, conducted by Elder J. W. Williams, Gladbrook. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery, Cedar Falls.

BORN IN ILLINOISMr. Eychaner, who was born in Illinois Sept. 17, 1842, taught school as a very young man in the vicinity of Oregon, Ill. He was graduated from Mt. Morris college. He was a man of broad knowledge and culture.

In 1872 Mr. Eychaner married Miss Anna Beck, who survives at the age of 84 years.Mr. and Mrs. Eychaner came to Iowa about 63 years ago and it was at Watkins Wells, in Story County, that the Iowa Conference of the Church of God was formed.

HELPED FOUND CAMP GROUNDMr. Eychaner helped to found the state camp ground of the Church of God in Chautauqua park, Waterloo. He was active and interested in all the work of his denomination until his death.

Mr. and Mrs. Eychaner spent their winters the past few years in Florida, living the remainder of the year in their home at Cedar Heights.Surviving besides the widow and son are a daughter, Mrs. J. M. Prime, and granddaughter, Ann Patricia Prime, both of Omaha, Neb.
