CLARENCE BOWER DIES SUDDENLY
Clarence Bower, native of Jefferson County and a well known retired farmer, died this morning about 9:30 a.m. at his home in Fairfield, 302 E. Washington Street.
He had been in failing health for the past several years and more seriously ill the past few months, but his death this morning was considered sudden. He suffered a heart ailment.
The body is the the Hoskins Funeral Home where last rites are pending.
William Clarence Bower, 70, was a member of a pioneer family that settled in the Glasgow community in the southeast corner of Jefferson county. He was born July 30, 1882, near Glasgow, the son of the late B.F. Bower and Ruth Ann Cline Bower. He lived in that community all of his life until last October when he and his wife moved to their present home here in Fairfield.
He was united in marriage February 12, 1908, to Edith Ball who survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Boos, Phoenix, Ariz. and Mrs. Harold Backson, Marion, Ia. Mrs. Boos and her son Gene were scheduled to leave Phoenix later today by plane to attend her fathers funeral.
Mr. Bower is also survived by three grandsons, one brother, Walter Bower, and a sister, Mrs. Walter Billingsley, both of the Glasgow community.
He was preceded in death by one son, Harold Ball Bower, two brothers, John, Leslie Bower and four other brothers who died in infancy or childhood.
