Lillian and her husband, Robert, "Junk Bob" Grimes, ran a junk store out of the old Delafield School for many years.
Lillian Grimes, 87, a resident of McLeansboro, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at McLeansboro Health Care and Rehab Center.
She was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Saline County, daughter of John Thomas and Emme Belle (Little) Mayberry. She married Robert Grimes on Feb. 16, 1940, and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Grimes is survived by a son, Robert A. Grimes of McLeansboro; a daughter, Emma Jean Geist of Port Orange, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Misty Blades, Rick Pigg, Stacy Dawn Gibson, Martin Davis, Melva Jean Geist, Jeff Geist, Darrel Geist, Didi Geist, Gary Geist and Malissa Geist; 13 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian Oplet of Belleville and Laura Edith Kanick of Oklahoma City; and a special friend, Darlene Grimes of Dahlgren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Grimes worked many years along with her husband in antique sales. She was a member of Dahlgren Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial will be in Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren.
