Kevin was the son of the late Warren K. and Annabelle (LeGeyt) Bennett, he lived in East Hartland all of his life. He was the husband of Liz (Sampl) Bennett. Kevin graduated from the Gilbert School in Winsted in 1973 and was appointed a supernumerary police officer and dispatcher at the Granby Police Dept. in 1974. He became a regular patrol officer the following year and rose to the rank of Sergeant and achieved the rank of Captain, second in command of the Granby PD in 2003. He served the Granby Police Dept. for the past 34 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Windsor chapter, the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association, the Connecticut Representative to the Concerns of Police Survivors, and a member of the National Police Suicide Foundation and the Narcotics Law Enforcement Officers Association. Kevin was a former DARE officer and was Commander of the North Central Municipal Region Emergency Services Crisis Negotiation Team for the past ten years. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Samantha and Emily Bennett of East Hartland; two sons, Christopher Bennett and Morgan Beman, Ed Bennett and his wife Sherice, and two grandchildren, Aiden and Abby Bennett, and Kevin's former wife Linda Leib and her mother Mary Ransom, all of West Hartland; his brother Michael Bennett of Granby; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank and Barbara Sampl of Newington, CT.
