The Parish records show that James Learmont Spedon died in 1875 and "The Gleaner" newspaper published information about his death 1/11/1875 and said he was age 3.
This stone says James Spedon (whereas the other related Spedon stones have included the name Learmont on them) and gives a death date of January 16, 1876 and says he was age 2. The other two related Spedon stones in this cemetry also refer to their relationship to A. L. Spedon (Andrew Learmont Spedon), and this stone does not.
Consequently, it is not known for sure that this stone is for the James Learmont Spedon who was the son of Andrew Learmont and Agnes Christina Learmont Spedon. Since his grandmother and a sister are buried here, it would be logical that this might be James Learmont Spedon, but we cannot be sure.
This James' stone has been placed in the front row, and is the 5th stone from the left.
