The 8th Regiment, Missouri State Militia Cavalry, was organized at Jefferson City, Bolivar, Warsaw and Linn Creek from December 18, 1861.
Co. 'G' Service: Post and scout duty at Lebanon, Neosho and Springfield, Mo. Scouting from Lebanon into North Alabama; with skirmishes. Mustered out July 17, 1865.
Regiment loss during service: 3 Officers and 77 Enlisted men killed and/or mortally wounded. 1 Officer and 131 Enlisted men deceased by disease. Total 212.

He was one of twelve children.

Emily (who predeceased him).

William J.F. (1867).
Occupation: Farmer.
Cause of Death: Stomach Cancer.
