Bromo Wilson age 78 left this world peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2008 after a brief illness. He was born to Lyde Bromo and Alta Mouser Wilson on December 24, 1929 in Camden, Arkansas. He graduated from Camden High School in 1948, attended Ouachita Baptist University for one year and finished his accounting degree at the University of Arkansas. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After his service he moved to Springdale where he managed Coleman Shoe Store for several years. Then he worked for Springdale Urban Renewal, after that he finished his career at the Fayetteville Housing Authority for 31 years, 21 of those years serving as the Executive Director. During this time he was inducted into the National Housing Hall of Fame. He joined the Kiwanis Club in 1953 where he served as secretary for 50 years and had a perfect attendance up until his death. He received many distinguished awards and served on several boards through out the community. He had many hobbies. He worked many functions and fund raisers and worked the Albert Brumley Gospel Singing for over 30 years, but his favorite was going fishing every Friday night with his three buddies. He attended the Springdale First Baptist Church and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years.
He is survived by his wife Ute Schinke Wilson of the home whom he married February 12, 1983, one son, Gary Wilson of Dallas, Texas, two daughters, Judy Alexander and husband Gerald of Hope and Sarah Ward and husband Mike of Fayetteville, three grandchildren, Andrea Alexander, Amanda Ward and Nathan Ward and three great grandchildren, Katie Beth, Tre' and Jeremiah Alexander.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Charlie Foster and Chaplin Phil Meisenheimer officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Gary Dokter, Mitch Hankins, Loyl Bradley, Bob Harlan, MD Atwell, Jerry Martin, Sam Mason and Bill Clark. Honorary pallbearers are: Bob Baskin and Poke Knight.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
