Oma "Omie" Scott Strain
Birth: Jan. 12, 1923
Limestone County
Alabama, USA
Death: Jul. 9, 2006
Steel City
Northampton County
Pennsylvania, USA

My great aunt.

d/o Belton Scott &
Etta Mae Southerland.

w/o John Valentine Strain.

Mother of:
James "Wilson",
John "Johnny" Calvin,
Geraldine (DeSantis),
Dolores Marie (Maiortello),
Michael Robert,
Stephen "Stevie" David &
David Scott Strain.

This was my grandmother's sister. Aunt Omie was a lovely person, inside and out, I have many fond memories of her, growing up. There were 10 siblings, two of which died in infancy, and a sister that died at 11 yr. old in 1920. The remaining 7, all made it to adulthood, her last living brother died in 1987.

Aunt Omie had a long, productive life. She had a series of mini strokes over the past few years, but remained able to take care of herself, and kept a clear, sharp mind.

Her children all live close, but are grown and married now, and Aunt Omie has been lonely for qute some time, with Uncle John being gone, and all her family members.

I would call her now and then, when I had plenty of time to spare, cause Lordy, that woman could talk. :-)
But, I always enjoyed our conversations, and I know she did too.

Maybe it was our southern accent, I don't know, but all my life, when we spoke her name, it sounded like "Omie".

Rest in Peace, Aunt Omie.
