Frank Hrelja, 67, of New Baltimore, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, in Mount Clemens. He was born Sept. 28, 1939, in Detroit.

Mr. Hrelja was a retired truck driver for the Teamsters. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Detroit Grand Prix Association, NASCAR Track Team, and the New Baltimore Lions Club. An avid Indy racing fanatic, he was a volunteer track marshal for the Detroit Grand Prix.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

"He was a very compassionate and caring man who had a deep love for his friends and his animal friends," relatives said. "He was a beloved friend to all."

He is survived by his children, Frank (Lisa), Deborah, Jason, Kim (Curtis Hill) and Misty; grandchildren, Amanda, Stephanie, Frankie, Elizabeth, Katelyn, Jacob, Sabrina, Brandon and Cheyenne; sister, Janet (Mario) Fanelli; and nieces and nephews, Mario, Carlo and Gino.

A funeral service will be held at noon Monday at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr (at Masonic), Warren, with the Rev. Mel Hiler officiating.

Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.

Visitation is 2-9 p.m. Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
