Stark County
Illinois, USA
Death: Mar. 30, 1919
Iowa, USA

Obit K.C.N 5-8-1919
James C. McClenahan, son of Elijah and Elizabeth McClenahan, was born in Stark County, Illinois, Jan. 2, 1843, passed away April 30, 1919
Was married to Nancy J. Morton Jan. 30, 1867, at Taleyrand, Iowa. He served for three years in the Civil Was as a member of Co. D., 13th Reg. Iowa Inf.
For the last eight years he lived at the Solier's Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
His last sickness began seven week ago, ending in his decease at the home of his son Mervin and family in the Bray addition of Sigourney, Iowa, where he had been tenderly cared for during all this time.
Surviving him are the daughters: Mrs. Mina Sanders, of Lake Preston, S. Dak.; Mrs. Lena Milburn, of Keswick; Mrs. Sarah Geno, of Sigourney and two sons, George and Mervin of Sigourney.
Another bronze button veteran of the Civil Was has thus been mustered out. Taps have sounded and lights are out.
May his faithful and heroic example continue to be a shining example of patrioism to future generations.
Funeral services were conducted at the residence of Mervin McClenahan in West Sigourney, Friday, May 2nd., at 2:00 o'clock P.M.
Beautiful floral tributes and the Flag covered the casket.
Three favorite numbers were rendered by a select quarted.
Interment took place immediately following the services at the residence in West Cemetery.
Rev. W. F. Vanderlippe, was the officiating minister.
The Home Post G.A.R. was present in a body and held their service at the residence.
