Kenneth L. Hickman, 70, Highlandville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was born August 26, 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Lewis E. and Bessie Lee (Overturf) Hickman.
On March 23, 1991, he was united in marriage to Clara (Anderson) Moore. His life on earth was filled with many unique and special events. He began his working career with the Greene County Sheriff's Department attaining the rank of Captain and served for over 16 years. He also worked for Springfield Regional Stock Yards for over 23 years and Nixa Sale Barn in livestock commission sales.
He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, horses and quarter horse shows. He was an enthusiastic basketball fan and especially enjoyed the Lady Bears games. Kenneth proudly served his country with the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gary Hickman; and a son, Vernon Moore. In passing he leaves love and confidence to his caring wife, Clara; two daughters, Shelly Deckard and husband, Scott, of Bois D'Arc, Missouri and Kenna McClanahan and husband, Billie, of Billings, Missouri; son, Van Moore and wife, Jeanie; daughter-in-law, Teresa Wilson and husband, Jerry, of Highlandville, Missouri; one sister, Beverly Hultgren and husband, Ronnie, of Springfield; one sisterin-law, Glenda Hickman of Springfield; six grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2006, in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. Tommy Bilyeu officiating. Burial was at Tory Cemetery, Highlandville, with full military honors.
