Death: Apr. 28, 1994

Dixmont Jason W. Erskine, 16, died April 28, 1994, at a Bangor hospital after a long illness. He was born in Waterville, October 20, 1977, the son of James and Norma Lorraine (Leadbetter) Erskine.

Jason Attended the Etna-Dixmont school and at the time of his death was a member of the Sophomore Class at Nokomis Regional High School in Newport. He was an honor student throughout junior high school, receiving several academic awards. White attending the Etna-Dixmont School, he was a member of the Student Council, the band and the drama club. He was a former member of the Dixmont Cub Scouts and Boy Scout Troop. He was a member of the Gold Crest Riders Snowmobile Club of Dixmont.

At Nokomis, Jason was a member of Nokomis French Club, the "Arrowhead" yearbook staff and the drama club. He was especially pleased to be a member of the Nokomis concert and marching bands and was able to accompany the band to Washington, DC, and march in President Clinton's inaugural parade.

He is survived by his mother and father, James and Norma Lorraine Erskine of Dixmont; his maternal grandmother, Geneva Robbins of Belfast; sister, Julie W. Erskine of Dixmont; three half-sisters, Wanda Erskine of Plymouth, Debra Linscott of Searsmont, and Melodee Lister of Dixmont; 12 aunts and uncles, Lawrence and Flora Erskine of Newport, Esther and Robert Winship of Unity, Roger and Ruth Erskine, Dick and Betty Erskine, Bob and Sonia Erskine, all of Dixmont, Fred and Ann Leadbetter of Chestertown, MD, Helen Beckett of Waldo, Ann and Fred Sabin of Weeks Mills, Arthur and Nancy Leadbetter of Freedom, John and Marilyn Leadbetter of Waldo, Trixie and David Jewett of Palermo; several nieces, nephews and cousins, a best friend, Matt Siebert; many other special friends especially everyone at EMMC in Bangor.

It was Jason's wish that donations be made in his memory to EMMC's Pediatric Equipment Fund, Eastern Maine Charities, Bangor. Donations may be left at or mailed to the Brown Funeral Home, 24 High St., Newport. (Published in the Bangor Daily News)
