Hibbs
Regina Hibbs, 58, passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, after battling ovarian cancer for two and a half years. She was born in Massachusetts, was part of the Ridgecrest community for 39 years, and retired from NAWS after 34 years of service. She was a giving member of St. Ann Catholic Church, a beloved wife, loving mother/grandmother, and cherished, sister, daughter and friend.

Regina is survived by her husband of 38 years, Joe Hibbs; her daughters, Penny Gillmore, spouse, John Gillmore; Amanda Newsome, spouse, Dr. Lars Newsome; son, Joe Hibbs II, spouse, Alice Hibbs; six grandchildren; her mother, Barbara Riley; sisters, Kathy Riccomini, Suzanne Riley-Barri; brothers, Jim Riley, Michael Riley, Matthew Riley, Terrance Riley, and Christopher Riley; mother-in-law, Regina Hibbs.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Riley, former California City mayor, brother, Shawn Riley and father-in-law, Joe Hibbs.

Regina's life touched many people and her contribution to the community is immeasurable. She lived in California City from 1960, reigning as Miss California City during 1966-67, until marrying Joe and moving to Ridgecrest in 1968. She was an Eucharistic minister for St. Ann's because she felt it was her duty to serve God. Whether she was assisting the elderly with shopping, cooking meals for the infirmed, volunteering time with WACOM, or teaching her grandchildren new skills, Regina found time to help others even while battling cancer herself.

Regina's family will participate in the October Relay For Life in her memory and in honor of all those who continue to battle cancer. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Team High Hopes, or join the team at www.ascevents .org/relay/ca/ridgecrest

Open funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 25 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, with a reception to follow at the Parish Hall.
