OBITUARY - Graveside services for Alva R. Hamilton, 84, of Snyder will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Divide Cemetery south of Sweetwater with Tommy Davis officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home of Snyder. She died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002.

She was born April 5, 1918, in Nolan County and married Delmar Davis in 1936. He died in 1945. She married James Hardy Hamilton on Dec. 28, 1948, in Sweetwater. He died in 1985.

She had been a cook for the Chimney Creek Ranch in Howard County and the Pitchfork Ranch in Dickens County. She had lived in Austin for 14 years before moving to Snyder about two years ago. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion auxiliaries. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Sweetwater.

Survivors include three sons, Tommy Davis of Snyder, James Edward Hamilton of Little Rock, Ark., and James Hardy Hamilton Jr. of Hobbs, N.M.; two daughters, Del Fox of Austin and Alva Nadine Saenger of Barberton, Ohio; a sister, Susie Ann Hennington of Nolan County; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
