BOONEVILLE - Marie Pounds Gullett, 85, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004 at her home.

She was born on June 14, 1918 to Warnie and Seth Pounds. She attended the Belmont School System and the Mississippi University for Women. She moved to Booneville in 1934 when her father became manager of the Booneville branch of the Peoples Bank and Trust Company. She married William Lawrence Gullett Jr. on May 9, 1946 at the First Methodist Church. She retired as Senior Vice-President of the Peoples Bank and Trust Company in 1981.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, B&PW Club, National Association of Bank Women, Booneville Historical Society, an honorable member of the George E. Allen Library, and a charter member of the Prentiss County Mental Health Association.

She was chosen as the Prentiss County FBLA Business Person of the year in 1979 at the Prentiss County Vo-Tech School and was the Chariman of the North Group of the NABW. She also co-authored the book, "Prentiss County History."

Services are at 2 p.m. today at McMillian Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Phillip Box will officiate.

Survivors include her husband, W.L. Gullett; one daughter, Becky Herren and her husband Stan of Madison; a son, Bill Gullett and his wife Janet of Starkville; five grandchildren, Amanda Camp and her husband Kevin of Ridgeland, Seth Herren and his wife Anita of Olive Branch, Michelle Quinn and her husband Michael of Birmingham, Foster Gullett and Elizabeth Gullett of Starkville; one great-grandson, Kirby Quinn of Birmingham; one brother, Billy D. Pounds of Booneville; and one sister, Betty Crawford of Jacksonville, Fla.

Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Booneville, Heritage Hospice Ministries, 1801 S. Harper Road, Corinth MS 38834, or to a favorite charity.
