Ruth Cecelia Mensching nee Hinrichs, 88, of Rio Rancho Passed away on May 27, 2009 from cancer. Ruth was born in Buffalo, NY on February 19, 1921, and lived most of her life in Des Plaines, IL where she married Melvin Mensching on January 17, 1942. She worked for the Burlington Railroad, and as a school bus driver for Immanuel Lutheran School. In 1986 she and Melvin retired to New Mexico. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Melvin in 1991. Survivors include her son Charles and his wife Tracy; daughter and caregiver Debra Mensching, and granddaughter Amanda McCafferty and fiance Chris Pariseau. Ruth was an exceptional baker, famous for her apple pie and brownies. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church for over 20 years, where she was an active member in the choir and Director of Social Ministry. One of her greatest joys was putting the needs of others before her own. Her favorite TV shows included "Law and Order" and "Walker, Texas Ranger." In lieu of flowers donations to either of the following are suggested: the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA, 22312; the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123-1718, or the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, 615 Virginia Street SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Ruth will be buried next to her husband at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights, IL.
