Elwood Call Leader
November 12, 1964
Jesse C. Heflin, 87, 1304 South E. Street, died at 11:45 P.M. Wednesday night at home. He had been ill the past four years. Born November 12, 1876, in Tipton County, he was the son of Isaac and Mary Little-Heflin. He was married to Arizona Stanten Brown on October 28, 1899. She died November 4, 1922. He was a farmer and a member of the former New Lancaster Christian Church and member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges.
He is survived by eight children; Isaac of Clearwater, Florida; Mrs. Nora VanHorn of Elwood, Indiana; Mrs. Hilda Moore of Louisville, Kentucky; Mrs. Genevieve Loe of Larwill, Indiana; Kenneth of Columbia City, Indiana and James of Anderson, Indiana; three brothers, Carl and Roy of Elwood, Indiana and Harry of Cherryville, Kansas; a sister Mrs. Myrtle Harmon of Tipton, Indiana; 27 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren.
The body is at the Copher and Fester home where friends may call after 7 o'clock this evening. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Copher's. Rev. J. E. McCoy, pastor of the East Main Street Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be made in Cook Cemetery at New Lancaster, IN."
