Kentucky, USA
Death: Jun. 7, 2009
Texas, USA

Sgt. Franklin D. Barnett Jr., Covington, Kentucky was a talented juggler and mime and often performed at events for New Destiny Church, in Belleville, where he was a member. If there was a church even during a time when he was home, he would always do something for the kids. He joined the military in order to take care of his family and for the love of it. Frank served as a combat engineer and was assigned to the Louisiana National Guard. During his recent tour of Afghanistan, Frank survived a blast and pulled his lieutenant to safety, despite his own injuries. He received a Purple Heart for wounds suffered in Afghanistan and began treatment in Texas in October. He also received the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Combat Action Badge and other distinguished medals. Frank died at age 29 at Fort Sam Warrior Transition Unit. His body was found with no obvious likely cause of death. He is survived by his wife, Diane Barnett, and three sons: William, Noah and Dylan among others. He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Alice Schoen Burton and a grandmother, Patricia Mattingly.
