Edwin L. Kirkpatrick of Columbia, MO, 77, passed away September 30, 2006, at the Scotland County Care Center of Memphis, MO.

Edwin was born August 8, 1929, in rural Scotland County, MO. He was the son of Burlind L. and Hazel Mae Boozel Kirkpatrick.

Ed attended rural schools in Scotland County and graduated from Memphis High School.

He married Laura Jean Ludwick and to this union six children were born.

During his working years in the Memphis area, he farmed, worked at Harris Motor Company and owned Ed's Radio and TV on the Memphis square. Edwin moved to Columbia in 1972 and worked as an electrician and carpenter. He retired from work at the University of Missouri maintenance department. During his retirement he enjoyed flea marketing with his sons. He would display his birds in a bottle and sell the concrete yard ornaments, which he made from start to finish. He made the molds, poured the concrete into animal forms, and painted them.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother, Charles Stanley Kirkpatrick.

He is survived by his special friend, Oleta Edward of Columbia, MO; one sister, Mary Stott of Venice, CA; two brothers, Wayne Kirkpatrick and Robert Keith Kirkpatrick, both of Cedar Rapids, IA; five sons and one daughter, Ronald Edwin Kirkpatrick and wife, Margaret of Norwalk, IA, Donald Leroy Kirkpatrick and special friend, Chris Jacobsen of Cedar Rapids, IA, Sandra Gayle Arnold and her husband, Duane of Memphis, MO, Michael Wayne Kirkpatrick of Lenexa, KS, Kevin Burl Kirkpatrick of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Daryl Mark Kirkpatrick and wife, Kathy of Toledo, OH; nine grandchildren, Nathan Duane Arnold and his wife, Angela of Independence, MO, Todd Michael Arnold and wife, Jill of Columbia, MO, Angela Tara Kirkpatrick Gallo and husband, Mitch of Cedar Rapids, IA, Noah James Kirkpatrick and his wife, Danielle of Anamosa, IA, Kimberly Ann Kirkpatrick of Shropshire, Scotland, Gareth Edwin Kirkpatrick of Edinburg, Scotland, and Kerry Aislinn, Kailynn Marie and Kayla Lauren Kirkpatrick of Toledo, OH; two great-grandchildren, Connor Jeremy Arnold of Columbia, MO, and Corbin James Kirkpatrick of Anamosa, IA, along with several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Briggs/Smith Airport or the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO, and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services were held on October 3, 2006, at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO. Officiating the services was Rev. Terry Lippstreu. Joan Hinds was the organist with Terry Lippstreu, soloist. Pallbearers were Nathan Arnold, Noah Kirkpatrick, Tim Pohlman, Todd Arnold, Don Kirkpatrick, and Duane Arnold. Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO.
