Christian H. Hamaker, 93, of 134 N. Eleventh St., Columbia, died peacefully on Tuesday at Hospice of Lancaster County in Mount Joy. He was the husband of the late Janet Haldeman Hamaker who died March 4th. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this past June.

A lifelong Columbia resident, Chris was the son of the late Christian and Maggie Dombach Hamaker. He was a well known photographer in Columbia for a number of years, later returning to Millersville State Teachers College and graduating in 1952. He taught in Harrisburg for one year and then became principle of Burrowes Elementary School for seventeen years and then Wickersham Elementary School for seven years.

Chris served on the board of the former Columbia Hospital and was a member of the former Columbia Jaycees; Lancaster County Elementary Principles Association; PSEA and Phi Delta Kappa. He enjoyed tennis and golf well into his eighties. Chris was a longtime member of the Grace E.C. Church, Columbia and is now a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Columbia.

Surviving is a daughter, Elizabeth A. wife of Jere Hoin of Lancaster. Two grandchildren, Amy and Jon and five great grandchildren, Will, Sammy, Isabel, Christian and Ayden. Chris was preceded in death by a brother James and two sisters Elsie Aston and Margaret Lorenza.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service from St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sixth and Locust Sts. Columbia PA, on Monday at 11:00Am with the Rev. Richard E. Geib, officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. The family request flowers are omitted. Contributions to Hospice of Lancaster County Po Box 4125 Lancaster PA 17604-4125 in Chris's memory would be deeply appreciated. Arrangements by the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc.
