Much regret has been caused to Bushmills by the death of Jim Callaghan.
Son of Charles Callaghan and grandson of Mrs Callaghan of Main Street Bushmills.
Deceased who was just 18 years old spent his boyhood days in Bushmills where he was a general favourite.
Some time ago he rejoined his family in Scotland where he completed his education.
When war broke out he was about to become apprenticed to the engineering trade, but enlisted in the Gordon Highlanders, being stationed at Aberdeen.
There he contracted fever and all efforts to save him were in vain.
His remains were laid to rest in Coatbridge amid manifestations of sorrow.
