Dorothy was born near Marysville Kansas. Daughter of Juluis & Christine Knudsen. In July of 1888 her family bought a home in Washington county on the Riley county line. In 1916 she married Oscar Carlson. Though she never had children of her own she did take in Elton Nelson and raised him. As a child she was confirmed with the Lutheran church. She had spent the last two weeks of her life in the Sebetha hospital. A memorial service was held at Mercer Funeral home, Internment was in the Zion Cemetery, Randolph, Kansas.
