Eliza was the seventh of eleven children of Archibald and Jane Shaw who owned a sawmill in Norfolk. She married Robert in 1881 and they had three daughters and three sons. As their family grew, they built a home in Norwood on Main Street - with 7 bedrooms, 2 living rooms and a huge dining room. She was a wonderful gardener.
