Loren Brittin, 74, of Mahomet, formerly of Champaign, died at 9:35 p.m. on June 19, 2007, at LeRoy Manor Nursing Home in LeRoy.
Owens Funeral Home of Champaign will conduct a graveside funeral service at Grandview Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007. Mark Whitted will officiate. There will be a celebration of life following the service at Champaign Sportsmen's Club.
Mr. Brittin was born June 9, 1933, in Saybrook. He was preceded in death by his wife, D. Joanne Givens Brittin; and his parents, John and Gladys Stiger Brittin. Survivors include one son, Roy Brittin of Champaign; three daughters, Norma Skinner of Temecula, Calif., Annie Bender of Mahomet and Tina Cuppernell of Bellflower; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Loren owned and operated several Marathon and Texaco stations around Champaign and Urbana. He later retired from Purity Baking Co. in Champaign, where he was the fleet manager. His post-retirement years were spent working as a security guard at The News-Gazette.
