Glen was born and raised in West Virginia, he later moved to Virginia. He was the son of Alvin Carr and Addie Fidler Carr. Glen worked as a crate maker at the Norfolk Naval shipyard and he retired from there after 30 years. He also worked part time working as a crate maker for various moving companies. He loved to go fishing. He was married to Virginia Lea Golden and they had two children, Glen Jr., and Sandra Fay. After Virginia passed away he married Irene Jones and he helped her to raise her son Kenneth and she helped with his daughter Sandy. He was later to be widowed once more.
After Irene died Glenn moved back to Linn, West Virginia where he lived till his death on April 3, 1982 at the age of 66 at home with his daughter in law Shirley with him, she had been taking care of him. After his death his son Junior brought him back to Norfolk, Virginia to be buried on April 8, 1982, next to his first wife, Virginia.
