World War 2 ~ Army Veteran
The son of Juan & Helena LuKasskey. Leon's mother died in childbirth with him & he was given to relatives who raised him. Since his aunt & uncle had heavy Polish accents when getting the birth certificate completed the last name sounded like Sumaliki which stayed with Leon his entire life. We are unclear if the uncle was saying the LuKasskey name or their own last name that came out all wrong.
Leon had an older brother, John, who was murdered around 1931. He also had a sister, Frances, but nobody were close to each other since Leon was raised by his aunt & uncle.
Leon served in World War 2, Army division. He was in Company M, 148th Infantry Regiment, 37th Division. He married on October 6, 1947 and had one child.
Leon aged 49 yrs, 2 months, 23 days
Leon was the grandfather of Steven Sumaliki
Philomena Florence DiBiase Sumaliki (1925 - 2016)*
