HESS—Harry G. "Hap", 78, 135 Fourth St., Vintondale, died Dec. 1, 1989, at Lee Hospital. Born Oct. 12, 1913, in Johnstown, son of late Benjamin and Minnie (Rummel) Hess. Preceded in death by brothers, Clyde and Edgar. Survived by wife, former Thelma Fertick, to whom he was married for 51 years, and these children: Harry W., married to former Cecelia Michaels, Cleveland, Ohio; Diane, wife of Nathan Price, Camp Springs, Md.; and Thomas E., marred to former Eileen Collins, and Dean A, married to former Paula Kalina, both of Vintondale; also 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Brother of Melvin, Elton. Avid fisherman and hunter. Retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday an 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Askew-Houser Funeral Home Inc., Nanty Glo, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Jack Long officiating. Interment, Benshoff Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Baptist Church, Dilltown.
