Former Resident Dies in Missouri
Hurley E. Winfrey, 57, a former resident of Burlington, passed away at his home west of Ava, Mo., on April 9. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon, April 14, in Chadwick, Mo.
Hurley E. Winfrey, son of John R. and Anettie Winfrey, was born April 28, 1904, at Carrollton, Mo., and died at his home on April 9 at the age of 57 years, 11 months and 11 days.
He was married May 19, 1925, to Elsie Luella Rogers. To this union five sons were born, one of whom died in infancy.
He was converted and baptized into the Liberty Baptist Church north of Burlington at the age of 15 years.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Elsie; four sons, J. L. Winfrey of Oswago, Orel, W. G. Winfrey of Salem, Ore., AFC Hurley E. Winfrey, Jr. of Richards Gebour AFB, Mo., and John R. Winfrey of Tillamook, Ore., two brothers, James W. and E. M. Winfrey, both of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs. Nora Crews of Wray, Mrs. Mildred Smith of California and Mrs. Grace Rice of Washington; 13 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
