Franklin "Junior" Marr, Jr. age 85, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 4:00 a.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Aurora, Missouri. He was born June 2, 1927, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Mildred (Keeney) and Franklin Marr, Sr.

Junior attended Licking High School and after a bout with TB obtained his GED and while working as an X-ray technician for the Missouri Chest Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was saved as a young boy at the First Baptist Church in Licking, Missouri, baptized in the Piney River in the cold month of January, thus establishing his Christian life. He became an active member and later a Deacon of the Mt. Vernon First Bapitist Church where he dedicated his service to the Lord.

Junior also served on the Board of Directors and several terms as president for the John Taylor Senior Center remaining active until 2008. He loved fishing and gardening, often sharing the fruits of his labor with friends.

On January 19, 1946, he married Evelyn Reece in Mt. Vernon. She preceded him in death June 9, 2012.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his son, Denny Marr and his wife, Dorothy, of Republic; three grandchildren, Amy Riley and her husband, Don, Emily Beshears and her husband, Nick, and Aaron Marr, all of Republic; eight grandchildren, Allison, Adrienne, Nathan and Gretchen Riley, Nicholas and Noah Beshears, Amia and Keira Marr; one sister, Berna Dean Schultz and her husband, Elroy, of Licking, Missouri; two brothers, Bob Marr and his wife, Arlene of Rolla and Gerald Marr of South Point, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Betty Hailey of Ottawa, Kansas and Pattie Reece of Harrisonville, Missouri, several nieces and nephews, and lots of friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

His parents, one daughter, Cheryle Bisoux and one son, Dale Marr also preceded him in death.

A funeral service, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2012, at the First Baptist Church with burial at the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
