Son of William and Sarah Ann Warren Allred, was born in Farmington, then in Bedford County, Tennessee. William married Sarah Jane Wilcox 7 March 1859 in Iowa. That summer they traveled to the west with Sarah Jane's sister Malinda and her new husband Isaac Pugh. The men decided to go on to California and were soon caught up in the gold fever and abandoned their wives. Two babies were born to the couple, Samuel Parley and Joseph Orson, but Joseph died as an infant.
In 1862, after Joseph Orson was born in September, Sarah Jane and Malinda returned to their parents in Utah.
Eventually William came to where his brother James Alfred had settled in Spring City, Sanpete, Utah.
