Hans Martin Strein Family

Hans Martin Strein left Hebstahl, Germany in Spring 1749 with wife, Anna Catherina Kabel and three children according to the Archives of Erbach-Furstenau in Germany. The names of the three children that emigrated were not listed, but it appears that Peter and Adam were two of these children and the third child was either Johann George or George Phillip. There was a large group of people that left Hebstahl together at that same time, which included Anna Catherina Kabel's family. They traveled up the Rhine River to Rotterdam. They embarked on the Ship Albany arriving at the Port of Philadelphia on September 2, 1749 and settled near Red Hill in upper Philadelphia County (now Montgomery County), Pennsylvania.

St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Red Hill, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania was founded due in part to the arrival of ten families on the ship "Albany" on September 2, 1749, who joined the congregation – Nickel Heist, Hans Martin Strein, Johan Philip Heist, Johan Adam Heckman, Johan Peter Heist, Johan Michel Kabel, Johan Adam Kirchbaum, Johan Michel Kabel, Sr., Adam Lautenschlager and Adam Edelman. (Source - Annette K. Burgert transcript of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1971, Kutztown University, Kutztown, Pennsylvania)

Hans Martin Strein and his wife are listed in these church records through late April 1769. It appears that he and his wife may have died shortly thereafter, but no record of these deaths have been found.
