Dr. Thomas Brugger

Memorial service for Dr. Thomas E. Brugger, who died Sunday in a traffic accident, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Francis Church, followed by a reception. Cremation will be private.

Dr. Brugger, a resident of Southwest Portland, was born in Portland, attended grade school and high school in Gresham, and graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School in 1967. He had a practice in Portland and was on the staff of Providence and Emanuel hospitals.

Dr. Brugger, 39, was dead on arrival at a hospital early Sunday after the car he was driving collided with another vehicle in Northeast Portland.

During 1968 and 1969, Dr. Brugger served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. he was a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Multnomah County Medical Society and the Oregon Medical Association. He was medical adviser to Raleigh Hills Little League and was a classroom volunteer at Raleigh Park School.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; three sons, Tim, Todd and Troy of Portland; one daughter, Tiffany of Portland; his mother, Virginia C. Brugger of Gresham; one brother, James M. Brugger of Portland; one sister, Janice Crowley of Gresham; and two nieces. The family suggests remembrances be contributions to either St. Francis Church or The Hospice at Providence Hospital.
