Eva was born on February 22nd 1906 to Richard Dick Davis and Sarah Catherine “Riney” (Mays) Davis. She was their third child and daughter. Eva’s full name was Cenie Eva Davis (written also as Sena and Cindy). Her parents were first cousins by way of their mothers, Delila (Wilson) Davis and America Adaline (Wilson) Mays Reeves.

When she was young she grew up on Golden’s Creek Road in Poplar Creek, Knox County, Kentucky. Here she lived near her father’s parents, Thomas and Delila Davis. Her father worked as a farmer and her mother worked as a laborer.

As she got older her family moved to Jellico, Campbell County, Tennessee. Here they lived near her maternal grandmother, Adaline Reeves. Her father became a railroad worker. Eva and her sister Martha did knitting for a local hosiery mill.

On November 18th 1921 in Barbourville, Knox County, Kentucky, Eva (15) married William Campbell Adams (24). They were married by J.D. Fugle. Their witnesses were William Johnson and Eva’s father, written by his initials, R.D. Davis. According to their family’s bible they stayed one night in the Block Stone Hotel and went home the next day to start life for themselves.

Eva and William were second cousins once removed through the Mays family. This was because William and Eva’s mother, Sarah were second cousins. William’s father, Nelson Preston Adams and Sarah’s father, James Dick Mays were first cousins. Sarah’s grandfather, Andrew Mays and William’s grandmother, Nancy (Mays) Adams were siblings, they were the children of Solomon Mays and Margaret (Evans) Mays. Another connection placed them also as third cousins once removed this time connecting William’s mother, Samantha to Eva’s mother.

As life continued for Eva and William they settled on Brush Creek Road in Artemus, Knox County, Kentucky. William worked a miner. Their family bible tells us that William ran a motor in the mines. They lived near Eva’s parents. A later census tells us that they lived in nearby Barbourville, Knox County, Kentucky. William worked a deliver for a retail store by then.

Together Eva and William had eight children. They had a daughter named Virginia Helen in 1922, a son named John in 1925 that died in 1929, a daughter named Kathryn Cecile in 1927, and sons, William Campbell in 1930, Elmer Forester “Butch” in 1932, Wilburn Parker in 1934, Reed Thomas in 1942, and Paul David in 1942.

Together the family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1945. They lived at 1367 S. Sheffield Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46221.

William died on July 9th 1957 at the age of sixty. His death was written as being caused by Coronary Thrombosis due to Arterisoclerotic heart disease for a total of five years.

Eva followed two years after her husband, On July 24th 1959. She was fifty-three years old. Her death was written as being from lung cancer for a year and pleural effusion (excess fluid around the lungs) for two weeks.
