Bruce served as a Corporal, 31st Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Lamoille County, Vermont prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on April 23, 1940 in Homerville, Georgia. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Married.

Bruce died "While A POW" of the Japanese at Camp Cabanatuan during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
