Pvt. Raymond Baril was the son of John and Virginia Baril. He entered the service on December 13, 1943 and was granted a diploma by Windsor High School with the class of 1944.
Pvt. Baril was serving with the 422 Infantry, 106th Division. His parents were notified first that he was missing and then that he was a prisoner of war. He was interred in Stalag 9b Bad Orb Hessen Nassau Prussia. He was taken prisoner the first day of the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944, while serving in the Golden Lion 106th Division. He died with tuberculosis in a hospital in France.
He was survived by his parents; three sisters, Mrs. Prusha G. Helie, Doris Baril, and Mrs. Charles (Alice) Johnson; and four brothers, John, Earl, Eugene, and Pfc. Ralph Baril who was serving in the Pacific at the time of Raymond's death.
