Col. Catlin Found Dead
Colonel Hooker Catlin of California Junction was found dead in the barn at his home late yesterday afternoon. Yesterday morning after breakfast he told the family he was going out to the field after corn and as he was not always in the habit of coming in for lunch, nothing was thought of his non-appearance at the time. Later in the day his wife became somewhat uneasy and started a search finding the body laying on the floor of the barn face downward. The body was carried to the house and Coroner Hennessy of the Valley was called who stated that an inquest was unnecessary. It is thought death occurred about 10 oclock in the morning. The deceased had a grown family besides his wife, having been married twice. He was an old soldier and well know among the older inhabitants being at the time of death about 71 years of age. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at California Junction.
