Mrs. Briggs, age 82, passed away Oct 20, 1982. Mrs. Briggs had been a resident of the greater Lansing area for the past 70 years. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church since 1923 and life member and organist of Amity-Lansing Chapter #490 O.E.S. Mrs. Briggs was a graduate of Michigan Agriculture College in 1923, receiving her degree in Home Economics. Surviving are son Eugene M. Briggs of Lansing; 2 daughters, Mrs. Paul Roberta) Dugan and Mrs Raymond (Vernagene) Brandell both of Lansing; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs Geneva Newell of Rochester, MI and Mrs. Verna Witter of Maine. Religious services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Sat. in Estes Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Rev. Lawrence W. Kent of First Presbyterian Church officiating with cremation following in East Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Thurs. and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Fri. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Memory of Jessie E. Briggs.
