Harry D. Croxton, 84, of Litchfield died Monday, June 13, 2016, at 5:19 p.m. at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Litchfield.

Private family funeral services will be held Friday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield with the Rev. Steve Revisky of Christian Church of Litchfield officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery in Litchfield.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Croxton was born on Dec. 10, 1931, in Montgomery County near Sorento, the son of the late Harry Joseph and Opal Alberta (Kirkland) Croxton. He married Nellie Mae Bliss on March 9, 1958, in Litchfield, and she survives.

He was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for Sorento and Walshville areas for 30 years and received the Million Mile Award for safe driving from the USPS. He was also a hog farmer, a World Book Encyclopedia salesman and a Million Dollar real estate salesman.

Mr. Croxton was a past member of the American Legion, served on the Kirkland Cemetery Board for many years and coached Little League for 17 years. He was a lifetime Cardinal baseball fan, a big supporter of the Litchfield Sports Boosters and was also the Sports Boosters fan of the year.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Charles (Brenda) Croxton of Bloomington; two daughters, Tara L. Croxton Clement of Greenville and Lynn M. Croxton of Belleville; one sister, Vicki (Jack) Boettcher of West Des Moines, IA; two grandchildren, Michael (Wanda) Croxton and Brandy Johnson; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew Croxton and Mason and Davin Johnson.

Besides his parents, Mr. Croxton was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline Manno, and a grandson, Matthew Croxton.

The family suggests memorials to Litchfield Sports Boosters and Kirkland Cemetery Association in Sorento.
