Juanita June Kalaher, 93, of Litchfield passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 1:50 a.m. at Heritage Health Care Center in Litchfield.
Born on June 21, 1921 in Carlinville, a daughter of Luther and Opal Mae (England) Rice. She married Ralph Cranford on August 25, 1940. Mr. Cranford passed away March 4, 1984. Other marriages included William G. Sielschott and John Krota whom all precede her on death.
Juanita held several jobs in Litchfield during her working years. The Candy Kitchen, Brown Shoe Co., Roller Derby Skate Corp. and at St. Francis Hospital as an LPN and Ward Clerk. While at St. Francis Hospital, she was honored with the Employee of the Year Award in 1968. She retired from the hospital after several years of service.
Juanita enjoyed many social activities which included dancing and visiting with her many grandchildren.
Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, Brothers John, Thomas, Welton, Melvin Rice and Sisters Wilma Martin and Verna Atterberry.

Juanita June Kalaher, 93, of Litchfield, died at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Heritage Health Care Center in Litchfield.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield with Deacon Lee Johns, family friend, offiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Litchfield. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kalaher was born on June 21, 1921, in Carlinville, a daughter of Luther and Opal Mae (England) Rice. She married Ralph Cranford on Aug. 25, 1940, and he preceded her in death on March 4, 1984. Other marriages included William G. Sielschott and John Krota who also both preceded her in death. She married Martin Kalaher on Oct. 11, 2005, and he survives.

She held several jobs in Litchfield during her working years: at the Candy Kitchen, Brown Shoe Co., Roller Derby Skate Corp. and at St. Francis Hospital as a ward clerk. While at St. Francis, she was honored with the employee of the year award in 1968. She retired from the hospital after several years of service.

She enjoyed many social activities which included dancing and visiting with her many grandchildren.

In addition to her husband in Litchfield, she is survived by a son, Larry (Shirlyn) Cranford of Hamel; three granddaughters, Laura (Bryan) Henske of Creve Coeur, MO, Julie (David) Graham of Raymond, and Susan White of Litchfield; 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; three stepsons, Joseph Kalaher of Litchfield, Martin Kalaher III of Raymond, and Danny Kalaher of Belleville; four stepdaughters, Bev (Michael) Compton of Litchfield, Tammy (Walter) Simplowski of Gillespie, Shelly Kalaher and Darla Starks of Litchfield; as well as numerous stepgrand and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers John, Thomas, Welton, and Melvin Rice, and sisters Wilma Martin and Verna Atterberry.

The family suggests memorials to the Litchfield Food Pantry or to St. Francis Hospital.
