Mearl E. Welch

MOUNT CORY - Mearl Edward Welch, 81, of here, died at 8 a.m. today at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born May 25, 1906, in Putnam County, the son of Michael E. and Loretta Cutchall Welch. On Jan. 6, 1934, he married Ellen Campbell who died Sept. 17, 1986.

Mr. Welch was a retired farmer and had also retired from the state highway department in 1974. He was a member of Raw- son Masonic Lodge 418 and Mount Cory United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Wayne Welch of Mount Cory, Norman Welch of Ada, and Nel- son Welch of Jenera; a daughter, Mrs. Don (Marilyn) Wymer of Mount Cory; 15 grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; 15 great- grandchildren; four brothers, Norval Welch of Bluffton, Robert Welch and Ervin Welch, both of Toledo and James Welch of Vaughnsville; and four sisters, Mrs. W.H. (Flo) Bakus of Toledo, Mrs. Warren (Lucille) Price of Findlay, Mrs. Don (Grace) Alexander of Traverse City, Mich., and Mrs. Don (Helen) Williams of Ottawa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at LaPoint Funeral Home, Ottawa, Rev. Keith Eipper officiating. Burial will be in Harmon Cemetery, Gilboa.

Friends may call anytime Fri- day at the funeral home with the family present 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and until time of services Saturday. Masonic services will be held Friday evening in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Mount Cory United Methodist Church.
