Carroll Brown Jr., 85, of Church Road, Virginia passed away Friday, September 23, 2011. He was the son of the late Carroll Marvin and Edith Tyus Brown, and was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Mae Janosik Brown; a daughter, Catherine Frances Brown Wamsley; a son, Robert Thomas Brown Sr.; a sister, Mary Burruss, and a brother, Richard Brown. Mr. Brown retired from the City of Newport News, he was a United States Navy veteran, a member of the Hopewell Moose Lodge 1472, and the Dinwiddie Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his daughters, Jane Lewis and husband, Cecil of Dinwiddie, Connie McFalls and husband, Ralph of Dinwiddie; a son, Carroll Wayne Brown of Dinwiddie; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one sister, Viola Sturkey of Charlotte, North Carolina. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the family residence. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard is serving the Brown family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Virginia 23058.
