Evelyn M. Miller 83 of Berlin formerly of Shanksville died Oct. 4, 2011 at In Touch Hospice House of Journeys Rest, 64 years from the day she was married. Born March 27, 1928 in Windber daughter of Elmer and Ida (Smith) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents, husband Edward L. Sr., brothers: Virgil, Carl, Don, Meredith, Elmer Jr. and James Shaffer, and sisters: Agnes Shaffer and L. Beryl Holsopple. Survived by children: Sherry married to Robert Walker and Edward Jr. married to the former Linda Lauer, all of Shanksville; grandchildren: Brett and Angela Walker, Gina married to Jason Caliguri, Brian Miller and wife Laura, and Jodi Miller and husband Jerry; great grandchildren: Breanna and Allysa Walker, Macin Watson, Mikayla, Megan, Tory, and Matthew Miller; brothers: Mervin Gene (Roseanne) Shaffer and Richard (Evelyn) Shaffer; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a 1946 graduate of Shade High School, and worked in the dietary departments of Somerset State Hospital and Shanksville-Stonycreek Schools. Member of Shanksville United Methodist Church, and former member of Somerset O.E.S. Lodge, Fourth Society of Farm Women, and Shanksville Senior Citizens. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and taking care of her home.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Friday at Shanksville U.M. Church. Rev. Rebecca W.
