Civil War Union Army Officer. He served during the Civil War as Colonel and commander of the 38th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was mortally wounded at the September 1, 1864 Battle of Jonesboro, Georgia, dying of his wounds two weeks later in Atlanta, Georgia.
