He was the son of Samuel Jokepii (1865-1942) and Matilda nee Wikpert (1872-) (note: some records give her previous name as Lahti). Both parents were immigrants from Finland; they married in Calumet on May 28, 1892. Uno's siblings were: Arvo (a half-brother)(1889-); Frances (1893-); Heino (1894-1957); Mary (1897-1898); Wajnord (1898-); Aileen (1902-); Mildred (1905-); Edwin (1907-); Winifred (c.1910-); and Beatrice (1913-2008). Eileen, Mildred, and Edwin also attended the Italian Hall Christmas party but survived. The surname is spelled Jokepii in Uno's death record and Jokipii in the 1910 census.
